Daw Htay Htay win, former political prisoner from Burma

Daw Htay Htay Win was first jailed aged 15 years old during the U Thant uprising in 1974 and spent 4 years in prison. She fled to Thailand in 2005 but returned to Burma to participate in the Saffron Revolution. She again fled Burma afterwards but when Cyclone Nargis hit the country she returned to visit her father's tomb in the devastated Irrawaddy Delta region. As she made her way back to Thailand once more, she was arrested and charged with illegal border crossing and sentenced to 2 years in prison. She was released in 2009 and now lives in exile on the Thai-Burma border.
Hla Hla Maw, a member of the NLD, was arrested in August 2008 for helping victims of Cyclone Nargis. She was sentenced to 9 years and is detained in Myingyan prison.
