Aung Ngwe San, a member of the Yaung Chi Oo Workers Association, was arrested in December 1999 when returning from the Thai-Burma border. He was sentenced to 2 years for unlawful association and was released in 2002. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
Saw Lei Htoo, a member of the Karen National Union, was arrested in June 2005 for association with an outlawed organisation. He is currently detained in Myaungmya prison.
