San Myint, a traditional medic in Karen State, was arrested in October 2005 and charged with unlawful association with the NLD in exile when he was caught helping deliver documents across the border. He was sentenced to 10 years and spent 3 years in Moulmein prison before his release in November 2008. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
Aye Lwin, a member of the Karen National Union, was arrested in 2005, charged with high treason and sentenced to life imprisonment. He is currently detained in Insein prison.
