Moe Zaw Oo, an NLD Youth leader during the 1988 uprising and currently Executive Committee member of the NLD-LA, was arrested in 1990 and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. He was jailed for more than 9 years in Insein and Thayet prisons. He fled Burma and now live sin exile on the Thai-Burma border where he is a CEC member of the NLD-LA.
Bo Bo Oo was arrested in July 1989 for his political activities and sentenced to 19 years in prison. His sentence was extended by 7 years in 1996 in connection with the circulation of news within the prison, the preparation of a magazine, and attempts to report on human rights violations in the prison. He was transferred to Myingyan and suffered severe torture whilst there. He was released in September 2009 after 20 years in prison.
