Aung Than Oo "Sonny", a former university student from Rangoon Institute of Technology, was arrested in 1975 for his role in student lead demonstrations. He was sentenced to 7 years and served more than 4 in Insein prison. He fled Burma in 1987 and now lives in Germany where he is an Executive Committee member of the Burma Bureau.
Zaw Htet Ko Ko, a member of the 88 Generation Students, was arrested in October 2007 for his role in peaceful demonstrations. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison. In October 2011 he was released from Kyaukpyu prison under the general amnesty having served 4 years.
