Hero Clyde was arrested in 1981 accused of being a member of the Karen National Union. He was detained in Insein prison for 3 years without trial before finally being sentenced to 10 years and was sent to a Labour camp. After just 8 months he escaped to the Thai-Burma border where after 2 years in hiding he eventually joined the KNLA becoming a Captain. He resettled to Norway in 2006.
Padoh Kyaw Hlaing is a fellow member of the KNU. He is still detained in Burma's prison system but his exact whereabouts are unknown.
