Myo Yan Naung Thein, a member of the 88 Generation Students, was involved in in political activities since the 1988 uprising. He was first arrested in 1997 and sentenced to 7 years for his role in organizing student protests. In 2007 he was arrested again during the Saffron Revolution and was sentenced to 2 years in prison. He was released from Thandwe prison in September 2009. He continues to work in Burma's democracy movement in Rangoon.
Than Zaw, a youth member of the NLD, was arrested in July 1989 and falsely accused of a bombing incident in Rangoon. Along with his colleagues Nyi Nyi Oo and Moe Kyaw Thu, he was charged with high treason and sentenced to life imprisonment. He is still detained in Thayet prison.
