Aye Min Soe was involved in the student demonstrations of 1988. He was arrested in 1989 and spent 4 years in Insein and Taungoo prisons. He continued his political activities, eventually becoming a video journalist for the Democratic Voice of Burma (DVB) and worked undercover during the Saffron Revolution in 2007. The authorities raided his offices in October 2007 and he had to flee Burma with his family. He currently lives on the Thai-Burma border and continues to work for DVB.
Ngwe Soe Lin, a fellow DVB journalist, was arrested after leaving an internet café in Rangoon. He was sentenced to 13 years in jail for working illegally with outlawed foreign media. He is currently detained in Lashio prison.
