Ko Ko Maung, a poet and former student activist was arrested in 1998 and sentenced to 24 years in prison for his role leading student protests calling for the convening of parliament. He was released from Myingyan prison in 2005. He continues to work in the democracy movement in Rangoon.
Myo Min Htike, a student leader, was sentenced in 1998 to 52 years in prison for distributing leaflets and organising demonstrations during the student uprising of 1998 supporting the convening of parliament. He is currently detained in Myingyan prison.
