Yee Yee Htun, a member of the ABFSU, was arrested in 1996 for her role in student demonstrations. She was sentenced to 14 years and spent six years in Insein and Tharawaddy prisons. After her release she fled to the Thai-Burma border and resettled to Norway where she now works as a journalist for the Democratic Voice of Burma.
Zaw Thet Htwe, a writer and journalist, was arrested in 2008 for his role in delivering aid to victims of Cyclone Nargis. He is currently serving an 11-year sentence in Taunggyi prison.
