Zaw Win Naing, a former member of the NLD, was arrested in 1998 for his involvement in the movement calling for the civilian elected government to handed power. He was sentenced to 14 years and spent more than 6 years in Myeik prison. He fled Burma and currently lives in Nupo refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border where he is awaiting resettlement to a third country.
Kyaw Win, a fellow member of the NLD, was arrested in November 2008 and charged with having contact with the NLD-LA in exile. He is currently serving a 10 year sentence in Sittwe prison.
