Han Win Aung, a student leader and member of the ABFSU, was first arrested in July 1994 and sentenced to 7 years in prison for his role leading the outlawed student union. In 2003 along with six colleagues he was arrested again for distributing pamphlets and the student union's statement against the regime's political roadmap. He was jailed for 7 years until his release in December 2010. He continues to activeley work in the pro-democracy movement in Rangoon.
Aung Min, a student activist was involved in the 1996 December movement. He was arrested in 1997 and charged with being linked to the Communist Party of Burma and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. He is still detained in Tharawaddy prison.
