Myo Khin, a former member of the NLD was arrested for his involvement in the 1988 mass uprising and was jailed for 7 years. He fled Burma and lived in Nupo refugee camp awaiting resettlement to a third country, but became seriously ill and sadly passed away on 15th December 2009. He was buried in a small cemetery within the camp.
Phyo Phyo Aung, a student activist who had helped reform the ABFSU during the Saffron Revolution in 2007, was arrested, along with her father Dr Nay Win, in June 2008 for organizing to collect bodies of victims of Cyclone Nargis for burial. She was sentenced to 4 years but was released from Moulmein prison in October 2011 under the general amnesty.
