Student lead organisations are able to more freely become involved in politics and society as tentative reforms give them the space to operate. Generation Wave are one of those organisations striving to promote democracy and human rights but the threat of harassment and worse by the authorities remains in place unit laws are repealed that give them guaranteed freedom of movement and speech. Until January 2012 there were 21 members of the organisation who were jailed for their political activities.
