Soe Nay Lwin, a former student activist and member of the Communist Party of Burma (CPB), was first arrested in 1976 and sentenced to 3 years for his links to the CPB. He was arrested again in 1989 after the mass democracy uprising and was sentenced to a further 10 years. He was jailed for more than 11 years in prison. He fled the country and now live sin exile on the Thai-Burma border.
Ahyoe, a student activist, was one of group of 9 young activists from Irrawaddy division that were sentenced for their roles in the Saffron Revolution in September 2007. He is serving a 10-year sentence in Kawthaung prison.
