Soe Myint, a former student activist, was arrested in 1990 for his involvement in the 1988 mass democracy uprising. He was jailed for 3 years in Tavoy prison. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
Myo Min Wai, a member of the NLD and the HRDP, was arrested in September 2008 and sentenced to 15 years in prison for providing aid to victims of Cyclone Nargis. He was released from Hkamti prison in October 2011 under the general amnesty.
