Thatoe Kyaw, a former student activist and member of Rangoon Division Student Union was arrested in 1998 during student protests demanding dialogue and the elected civilian government being handed power. He was jailed for 4 years in Insein and Myaungmya prisons. He fled Burma and now lives in Mae La refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border where he is awaiting resettlement to a third country.
Zaw Tun, a member of the Human Rights Defenders and Promoters network was arrested during the Saffron Revolution in September 2007. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and was released in September 2009.
