Aung Khaing Min, a former student activist, was arrested in 1997 and sentenced to 7 years in prison for his political activities. He was jailed for 5 years in Insein and Taungoo prisons before being released in 2002. He now lives in exile in Thailand where he continues his work in the struggle for democracy in Burma with his fellow former political prisoners at the 'Assistance Association for Political Prisoners' in Mae Sot. His brother and sister-in-law, also political activists, are both still in jail in Burma.
