Ko Aung, who's family have long standing ties with Aung San Suu Kyi's, was one of her former bodyguards and member of the Tri-Color student group. He was arrested in July 1990 along with 40 colleagues and jailed for 1 year in Insein prison. His brother Maw Gyi was also jailed at the same time. He fled Burma soon after and resettled in the USA.
Kyaw Zin Htwe, a military medical officer accused by the regime of being a member of the Burma Communist Party was jailed for 10 years in Insein prison.
