Nay Rein Kyaw, a member of the ABFSU was arrested in 1992 for releasing a statement against the National Convention and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released form Myingyan prison in 2000 and fled to the Thai-Burma border in 2002 where he worked at the AAPP before being resettled to USA
Thein Than Tun, a colleague and member of the 88 Generation Students, was arrested in hiding in October 2007 and sentenced to 11 years for his role in peaceful protests that lead to the Saffron Revolution. He was released from Maungdaw prison in October 2011 under the general amnesty.
