Cho Cho Tun Nyein, a lawyer and former member of the ABFSU was arrested in 1989 for being an executive committee member of the banned National Political Front. He spent 3 years in Insein prison. He fled Burma during the student uprising of 1996 fearing arrest once more and eventually resettled in Norway.
Nyi Nyi, a leading member of the ABFSU, was arrested in 2008 for his political activities and role in the Saffron Revolution. He was sentenced to 50 years and is currently detained in Mandalay prison.
