Naing Min Htwe, a former student activist, was arrested in December 1996 for his involvement in the student demonstrations. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison and spent over 6 years in Insein and Myaungmya prisons. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
U Pandita, a Buddhist monk from Rangoon was arrested in September 2007 for his involvement in the Saffron Revolution protests.
