Kyu Kyu Win, a university student involved in the mass uprising in 1988, was arrested in 1991 along with 20 of her colleagues for her role in demonstrations marking Aung San Suu Kyi being awarded the Nobel Peace prize. She was jailed for 3 years in Insein prison. She fled Burma and now lives in exile in Tokyo, Japan.
Thet Naing Aung, a leading member of the ABFSU and the opposition group, the Democratic Party for a New Society, was arrested in 2004 and charged with high treason. He is serving a Life sentence in Insein prison.
