Wai Moe, former member of the ABFSU since the age of 11, was arrested in 1993 aged just 17 years old. He was jailed for 5 years in Insein, Mandalay and Myingyan prison - it was in Myingyan where was badly tortured and shackled and placed in solitary confinement for 3 years. He fled to Thailand and is now a journalist at exiled media organisation 'The Irrawaddy'.
Saw Thet Tun, a university student, was arrested in 1999 and sentenced to 36 years in Tharawaddy prison. He was eventually released under amnesty in October 2011.
