Kaung Myat Thu, a University student during the mass uprisings of 1988, was arrested in 1989 and charged with unlawful association with illegal organisations. He spent 3 years in Insein and Tharawaddy prisons. He has since fled Burma and now lives in the UK.
Thet Zaw, a member of the 88 Generation Students and the ABFSU, was first arrested in 1988 aged 16 years old and in 1991 he was sentenced to 4 years in prison. In August 2007 along with other leading members of the 88 Generation Students he was arrested for peaceful protests and is now serving a 65-year sentence in Shwebo prison.
