Khin Maung Soe was involved in the mass democracy uprising in 1988 and was jailed for 4 years charged with unlawful association with outlawed organisations and distributing materials that can harm the nation. He was jailed for 4 years in Insein prison. He fled Burma and now works as an editor at the Democratic Voice of Burma in Thailand.
Saw Wai, a poet was arrested in January 2008 after his poem mocking regime leader Senior General Than Shwe entitled "February 14" was published in the 'Love Journal'. The first words of each line of the poem spelled out "Power Crazy Senior General Than Shwe". He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and was released in May 2010.
