Tin Tin Nyo, a member of the NLD, was arrested in 2003 for writing a letter to Aung San Suu Kyi about the state of education in Burma. She was arrested when the letter was intercepted and was sentenced to 7 years in prison. She spent 2 years in Insein before being released in 2005 under amnesty. She fled Burma and now lives in Mae La refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border where he is awaiting resettlement to a third country.
Htet Soe Linn, a member of the same NLD branch as Tin Tin Nyo in Dala, was arrested in 2009 for allegedly disrupting a public official on duty. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison but was released in 2010.
