Kyaw Kyaw Lwin, a member of the NLD, was arrested after the Depayin incident when the authorities attempted to assassinate Aung San Suu Kyi. He was charged with distributing false information and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was jailed for over 6 years in Kawthaung and Myeik prisons. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
Aye Thi Khaing, a labour activist, was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 8 years in prison. She was released under the general amnesty in October 2011.
