U Zaw Win was arrested in March 1990 for his involvement in the 1988 uprising. He was charged with unlawful association with outlawed organisations due to his connections to many of the student leaders who had been arrested and also because he had travelled to the Thai-Burma border. He was sentenced to 15 years and spent 10 years in Insein and Taungoo prisons. He fled Burma and is now a refugee in Umpiem Mai camp on the Thai-Burma border.
San San Tin was arrested in October 2007 for her participation in the Saffron Revolution and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. She was released in October 2011 under the general amnesty.
