Ko Naing (name changed for security reasons) was arrested in 1990 for his role in student lead protests and his political activities during the 1998 democracy uprising. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison, serving 3 years in Insein and Thayet before his release under amnesty in 1993. He lives in Rangoon where he continues his work in the democracy movement..Shell @ Aung Thein Lwin, a student activist, was first arrested in 1998 for his role in leading student protests in Rangoon. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison, later commuted, and was released in the amnesty in 2004. In November 2007 he was arrested again for his role in leading protests during the Saffron Revolution and was sentenced to 11 years in prison. He is currently in Bhamo prison.
