Soe Myint Aung, a former student activist was arrested for his involvement in the 1988 uprising. He was jailed for 3 years in Insein and Tharawaddy prisons. He fled Burma and currently lives in Nupo refugee camp on the Thai-Burma border where he is awaiting resettlement to a third country.
Myo Thant, a former student leader in the mass uprising of 1988 and member of the 88 Generation Students, was first arrested in 1989 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was arrested again in August 2008 along with Mar Mar Oo and sentenced to 2 years in prison under sedition charges. He was released in May 2011.
